A Strong Media Supply Chain where Links are in the Cloud?
We believe that the end-users should have full control over every step in the media supply chain, while still maintaining the overview of the total cost. This is something that Isak, CTO at Vidispine, will talk about at IBC 2018.
When: September 16
A strong media supply chain with its links in the cloud: 13.50 – 14.10
A special panel on cloud: 15.10 – 15.50
During IBC 2018 the IABM Future Trends Theatre will give every IBC visitor the chance to hear about future-facing technology innovations and explore up and coming technology and business trends. One of the speakers is Isak, CTO at Vidispine. Isak will also join a panel on cloud.
Here is a preview of what to expect from Isak’s presentation:
“In this presentation, I would like to show a model for how to build an Media Supply Chain where the different steps are spread to different infrastructure realms. A hybrid or multi-cloud solution comes with the promise of extreme scalability and versatility, but at the risk of being more complex to manage, and having a cost model that is unpredictable.
We will identify the technical and commercial challenges, but more importantly, discuss methods to resolve them. We will show how the end user can have full control over every step in the chain, while still maintaining the overview of the total cost. It is our belief that by that, the users can take the step into using the clouds to get all the benefits: unlimited scaling, rapid prototyping, improved manageability, less maintenance, and access to new tools and algorithms.
The way to achieve this is with APIs. The concept of APIs dates more than 50 years back, but in this presentation we will point out some specific points that APIs should have to facilitate cloud-to-cloud-to-on-premise connectivity and media exchange.”
