Trimming a Video Using a Conform Job

By Eskil - June 18, 2015 (Last updated: April 3, 2017)

Sometimes you want to create a new clip from an existing video clip, by cutting out a part of the original. This can easily be done using a conform job.

I’ll show you how you can for example create a new item with the first 10 seconds from another item (your original video, this case with ID=VX-472664). Make a POST request to your Vidispine instance

http://localhost:8080/API/conform?tag=original

with Content-Type “application/xml” and the body:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<ConformRequest xmlns="http://xml.vidispine.com/schema/vidispine">
  <conform>
    <timeline>
      <segment>
        <source>
          <id>VX-472664</id>
          <interval>
            <start>
              <samples>0</samples>
              <timeBase>
                <numerator>1</numerator>
                <denominator>25</denominator>
              </timeBase>
            </start>
            <end>
              <samples>250</samples>
              <timeBase>
                <numerator>1</numerator>
                <denominator>25</denominator>
              </timeBase>
            </end>
          </interval>
        </source>
      </segment>
    </timeline>
  </conform>
</ConformRequest>
